Book Review: Incomparable by Brie & Nikki Bella

For those of you who aren’t aware of who Nikki & Brie Bella are, they are former WWE wrestlers, entrepreneurs, reality TV stars (Total Divas & Total Bella’s on E!) and female empowerment ambassadors. I first learned about them via Total Divas and since then have followed their careers. Although I never watched them wrestle on WWE (not really my style, although I did google WWE tryouts after my gymnastics career was over because I really wanted to stay in sports/on TV but I digress), I was always intrigued by their work ethic, vivacious personalities and their drive! So, when I saw that they released a book, I headed over to trusty ole Amazon and grabbed me one.

I guess, my reason for buying the book was because I wanted to know more about them as people and to discover what it was that made me feel so drawn to them. But more importantly, I wanted to be inspired by their story. And boy, was I.

The book details a lot of the Bella Twins early childhood, young adult life, their climb to WWE Superstardom and their journey to entrepreneurship. All of which, was full of trials and tribulations. And spoiler alert, none of it stopped them.

It’s important to note that most of their experiences were never spoken of on their platforms or reality shows. Which I found to be very admirable, because instead of airing their secrets on TV to make for higher ratings, they decided to put it in a book. Giving them the ability to control the narrative and not just have their stories be simply, a headline or clickbait.

Now, I know that is also a marketing ploy, to sell more books, I am not naive. I am just making the observation that carefully putting their more personal and shocking stories in a book for some reason to me seems more authentic and empathetic to others who might have also gone through similar situations. Some things are just not meant for TV. In my opinion, of course.

I, personally, find so much power in learning from other people. Whether you know them or not. Which is why I am a huge believer of watching, listening and reading about people and their successes and failures. You can learn something from everyone. Even reality TV stars, who I think get an unnecessary bad rep. With that said, there is always something to be taken away and applied to your own life. In this book, I took away female empowerment, life is meant to throw your curveballs and the age old saying, “age is nothing but a number”….forgive me for walking into that pun.

The overarching theme, you can become a CEO at ANY AGE! And that you don’t have to be a so-called, “expert” to create something that people love. You just have to have passion and persistence.

The book ended up inspiring me to care less about what people say or think of you, always take the high road, be kind to others (duh) and to never take no for an answer.

I loved that the book was solid balanced between an auto-biography and a self-empowering story all wrapped up into one hardback. Incomparable was a solid easy bed time or lounging on a beach chair read. It will give you more than just insight into someone else’s lives. This book will let you see yourself in their stories and encourage you to know that we ALL live different lives and that’s okay. We are all unique…incomparable if you will. Something we don’t get a lot of these days.

It gets a top Honestly Angelina rating and recommendation! Let me know what other books you might want HA to review in the comments!
